Today gov transparency, environmental, health and social progress took a hit at the HI Senate. The Civil Beat reporting was excellent and you can view it here. The marathon continues and we are tired and getting restless. Let this be the tipping point that drives more of us into action. Do we want to be funded by giant corporations or do we want to fight for a diverse local economy? Do we want huge mainland industries in charge or are we prepared to leap into supporting local economies and labor? We got a lot of work to do but its just our rent for living here and our organizing is on point and its only growing stronger.
Today we also sent HB623 to the Governor’s Desk thanks in great deal to Representative Chris Lee (pictured) and environmental organizations including Life of the Land, Blue Planet Foundation and the Kauai Island Utility Cooperative along with solar industry organizations including Hawaii Solar Energy Association. Most opposition came from the Hotel and Lodging Industry. This bill sets our energy goals to 100% renewable energy by 2045!
